Who is Who in Middle School Guidance?

Claudia was born and raised in Burlington, Vermont and loves all this beautiful state has to offer, with the exception of some of those long winter months. Claudia attended the University of Connecticut where she majored in Latin American Studies, and later went on to get her graduate degree in Mental Health and School Counseling from UVM.  She lives with her husband, 3 year old son, and cat in Middlebury, and is expecting a little girl in December.  She finds working with middle school students to be a challenge and a lot of fun!

Katie WallettStudent Assistance Counselor (SAP)

Katie is the Student Assistance Professional (SAP) counselor for RNESU. Her office is located in the guidance department. She has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire and varied experience working in the field of social work and counseling.

The primary purpose of the SAP program is to identify and help students who may be experiencing personal, school, family, or substance abuse problems that may be affecting the student’s ability to perform in school. SAP participation is completely confidential.  She will work closely with existing school and community resources to make the appropriate referrals needed to help each student succeed. Teachers, administrators, staff, parents and peers can make referrals to the SAP.

All 7th and 8th grade students will have the opportunity to get to know Katie in Project Alert, a substance abuse prevention course. She co-teaches this course with our School Resource Officer, Officer Bandy.

You can contact her directly at ext. 205 or by e-mail at kwallett@rnesu.org.
